This One's Dedicated to the One I Love...

Oh, how I ADORE a good Sock Hop!
Maybe it's the Poodle Skirts.
Or the inevitable root beer floats. A & W...Ahhhh.
Or good lookin' dudes in white shirts and fast cars.
Friday night's combined activity in Belleview was super fun.
The only thing missing was my handsome hubby.
So this one goes out to you.
2,682 miles away.
We miss you.

Cowboy Up

Wyatt came in the other day in this stylish ensemble.

Between Reagan's pink boots and Granddad's cowboy hat this boy is in hog heaven.

It reminded me of Atticus at about the same age running around in diapers and Granddad's cowboy gear. Time flies!

California Dreamin'

I have to post a shoutout to Kathryn who, after a particularly stressful week, convinced me to go online and look for a ticket to California. Though I've seen family a lot in the last few years I haven't been home in over a year and a half.
So imagine my surprise when I found a ticket for a ridiculously low price leaving the NEXT morning. Paris said, "I got the boys...Go!" And so I did.
A highlight was our daytrip to my favorite place, YOSEMITE! Grandma, Kathryn, Finn, Ryan and I hit the road. We got out of the car and instantly smelled that mountain air. Intoxicating!

Grandma rode both kiddos on her bike since Kathryn's preggo and I'm, well, bicycle-y challenged.

Ryan loved the ride. Apparently her infant seat was comfortable...

After a good ride and little hike we had lunch at the historical Awhanee hotel. (Best $30 Philly Cheesesteak Panini I've ever had!)

And then, of course, games out back. Perfect

Back at Grandma and Grandpa's

One of the biggest incentives to go was to see my brother, know in blogspeak only as MMS,STR. (I prefer to call him MOB,STR since he is decidedly not "my midle son.") He and his beautiful daughter were in Clovis the first couple days we were there.

I spared MOB,STR the blogerazzi, but here's Naima picking fresh veggies for dinner.

I can't wait to see the Jack-O someone will carve out of this gravity-defying pumpkin!

Two words about your garden, Grandma: Fab U.

All was not fun and games out back, though...
I found Bertha the Burton had been baking in the Fresno sun for who-knows-how-long. Probably abandoned there in an isolated step in Mom and Dad's ongoing garage-cleaning project.

I thought of good times, dear friends, and my favorite sport of all time. I reluctantly accepted the fact that by the time I board again I'll likely need a new snowboard. R.I.P. Bertha.

This Trip's Obsessions
This trip included enthusiasm for "the program" (the Ryan women's personal betterment program,) making over Kathryn's space, and an honest attempt at watching Edith Wharton. (Huh? I don't get it.)
After dealing with such serious business we snacked on our new guilty pleasure:
Thanks to Kathryn for such a brilliant idea. Thanks to Paris for making it happen. Thanks to Travis and Brittany for dinner and a great visit. Mostly, thanks to Grandma for crying.
