Offerings...

I have no delusions about who is the queen of our castle these days. Most mornings (since she was 4 days old) I find "offerings" neatly lining the bumper of Ryan's bassinet. The gifts are among the best of the best...The modern, Pre-K-Boys' equivalent of the Old Testament fatted calf.

Yesterday I found the selection especially adorable:
- A Dump Truck (Wyatt's favorite)

- TWO Transformers, including a particularly large one (Atticus's favorite)

- Weed flowers (which, I assume, they assumed was Ryan's favorite)

I don't know how old Ryan was when this one was taken, but you're never too young to appreciate reptiles, I suppose.

Of course, Ryan's quickly learning that where much is given, much is required. At the library, for instance, Wyatt thinks she makes an excellent cart for his books and DVD's. And when we pick Atticus up from school guess who carries his papers, sweatshirt, Transformer-of-the-day, etc to the car?

I don't think they've ever considered who carries Ryan to the car. :)

I know what you mean! I remember those sweet offerings too!

Now, those offerings aren't so sweet! Maybe a little love tap?

That's cute! That top picture of Ryan made me do a second take because it looked a lot like Mitchell. How dare you let your baby look like my baby. When we have family gatherings, people will think we brought the same baby. How embarassing!

This is so true. Grace even went thru a phase where she would bring us "offerings" when she would come climb into bed with us in the middle of the night. One night Randy heard her crying in the hallway and went to see what had happened. She was standing there with her hands full of baby dolls, crying because she couldn't carry them all from her room and had a line behind her of fallen babies. Sweet babies!!

Growing up in the wilds of Florida, with two big brothers, let's hope she develops more than just a tolerance for reptiles. Tommy arrived in our family and it was like I had given birth to Little Lord Fauntleroy. Put him to bed without the kisses and well wishes of his adoring siblings? Never! Now of course they find him rather annoying, yet still a little cute, so I think we've got another year before they outright resent him. Just the other day, Jos said "Mom, I feel bad because I love Tommy, I just don't want to be around him any more." I didn't say it out loud, but my brain whispered "Sounds like you already have motherhood figured out."
Loved all the pictures of Ryan, and just a friendly warning: I know for a fact that if you left her untended, Kelly would come and steal her.

I have read all of your most recent posts, but always seem to get distracted or don't have time to leave a comment. Let me just say again how much I love what and how your write. You should write a book or something. I am so freaking serious! Now I need to go so I can start working on my '06 Christmas cards.

p.s. remember that conversation we had about sending out Valentine's letters instead of Christmas cards. Whatever happened with that? I know maybe we can send out Easter letters instead. That gives us a couple more months to procrastinate!

ahhh...I love those cute boys of yours...learning how to be men and taking care of their little woman. I am sure she adores them!

I like the offerings :) So I just went to your mom's blog and she's worse than me. I had to comment on the favorite daughter part. When we were in high school, my dad had a conversation with your parents and Bridget Bulger's parents where they discussed the fact that despite loving all their children equally we would be the ones missed most when away at college. Talk about a run-on . . . The addicting part for me is reading all the other blogs.

That is one of the cutest pictures I've ever seen! Brotherly Love in the form of transformers and weeds. (I think we have that same exact Transformer. The huge green thing called... uh... Optimus Maximus Buzzlebee Primeonius? It took us like 5 hours to put together?) Sorry, Irene, but I'm with Karen on this one: little Ryan looks just like Natalie's daughter, Samantha. It's uncanny. And, yes, Julie knows me too well: you'd best leave her tended or I will steal that little cutie pie! :)
